About

The Tavern Hotel opened in 2011 with just 10 rooms. In 2018 the property expanded and is now home to 41 guestrooms, 5 cottages and a penthouse suite. The Tavern Hotel is located just steps away from Old Town Cottonwood’s historic district.

Owners Michelle & Eric Jurisin designed and opened the hotel wanting guests that visit to have a luxurious and comfortable accommodation option while in Old Town Cottonwood. Their daughter, Nicole, now runs the property. The family is delighted to welcome you to their unique hotel and thanks you for supporting their small business.

The Tavern Hotel is located in the heart of Old Town Cottonwood, steps away from incredible restaurants, local wineries, and quaint boutique shops. We are located less than 30 minutes from Sedona and 20 minutes from historic, haunted Jerome, which makes our hotel the perfect home base when exploring the Verde Valley. Close by is Page Springs, also known as Arizona wine country, and historic Clarkdale where you can climb aboard The Verde Canyon Railroad and enjoy a scenic ride.

We’ve Booked Our Stay

Check-in at The Tavern Hotel is at 4:00 p.m. If you arrive to town early, we are happy to welcome you for pre-registration. At this time, you can settle your balance, get any information or components to packages booked, and grab your Welcome Cocktail vouchers for The Tavern Grille (a perk reserved exclusively for our guests who booked direct!). Rooms are guaranteed by 4:00 p.m., but if after pre-registration your room is ready early, we will call you to let you know. Check-out is at 11:00 a.m.

While we cannot guarantee that your room will be ready early, we do our best to accommodate early arrival requests when possible. Please reach out to our team prior to arrival to submit your request: (928) 639-1669.

Also, no! Parking is conveniently available in the city lot which adjoins the Tavern Hotel & Tavern Grille, directly in front of the lobby. Parking is also available for hotel guests on W Pima Street, adjacent to the hotel main building, and is designated with signage. An electric vehicle charger is available.

We do not have adjoining rooms. Please let our front desk know if you have a proximity request. We offer a multi-bedroom penthouse suite and cottages, which are wonderful spaces when traveling with friends or family.

We are a smoke-free property. This includes smoking of any kind, including but not limited to tobacco, vaping, e-cigarettes, and marijuana. Please note that a cleaning fee of $250 per room, or more, will be charged to guests who choose to smoke in our guest rooms. According to Arizona state law statute #36-2851, it is illegal for any person(s) to smoke marijuana in a public place.

We have one pet-friendly space, the Dog Cottage! The remainder of our property is pet free. By booking your reservation, you agree to keep furry friends at home unless they are a certified service animal. If a pet is brought into the room, you agree to an additional charge for cleaning or any damages that may occur.

We invite you to call or email our front desk. We are happy to offer assistance to our guests who book direct. Reservations can be cancelled without penalty up until 48 hours before day of arrival on standard rooms, and 7 days prior on cottages and The Tavern Penthouse Suite or room blocks of 5 or more rooms. Reservations canceled after the conclusion of the cancellation window are subject to a cancellation fee. Call (928) 639-1669 or email info@thetavernhotel.com for assistance.

You have 48 hours before the day of arrival to cancel your room without penalty for all standard rooms. If you cancel within that 48-hour window, you authorize us to charge 50% of the first nights stay when booking your reservation. Our penthouse suite and our cottages have a 7-day cancellation period to avoid penalties. If you cancel less than 7 days before your booking, you will be charged for the first night’s stay. Please note, the cancellation policy does not pertain to any group-related reservations, pre-paid reservations, or special rates.

We are unable to modify or cancel third-party reservations. Please contact the company that you confirmed with directly.

Direct bookings are reservations confirmed through 928-639-1669 or thetavernhotel.com, without using an OTA or 3rd party intermediary like Expedia, Priceline, Booking.com, Agoda, Travelocity, Hotwire, etc.

All reservations are subject to an early departure fee ranging from a $50 minimum to the full value of 1-night’s room and tax.

Guests must be 21 years or older to check-in to a room.

We do require presentation of a valid government-issued identification at the time of check-in.

We do not have a restaurant on our property. The Tavern Grille, located directly in front of the hotel, is open 11:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m. daily (hours subject to change). Crema Craft Kitchen is across the street and open daily from 7:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. (hours subject to change).

We do have a pool! Open 8:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m., it is heated to 82 degrees year-round. We do not have a hot tub.

Yes! We offer complimentary electric charging to our guests. Charging power: 32 A (7.7 kW) max. Vehicle connector type: SAE J1772 connector.

Yes! All rooms are accessible by elevator, with the exception of the Penthouse, which luckily only has one flight!

Packages

The Verde Canyon Railroad Package

Yes, you need to stop by the hotel prior to heading to the train station. Although we cannot guarantee your room will be ready, we can store luggage if needed!

About a 6-7 minute drive from the hotel.

Approximately 4 hours.

The package includes first class tickets. Guests will enjoy a champagne toast, as well as a personal charcuterie. Additional drinks and snacks are available for purchase.

The Sip and Stay Package

There are three different tasting rooms included with the package: Pillsbury Winery, Vino-Zona, and AZ Stronghold. Pillsbury is the only tasting room not located in Old Town Cottonwood – it is located 1 mile away, thus, we recommend starting there. Each tasting room offers complimentary single ounce pours or options to upgrade to a full tasting at a discounted rate.

Nic’s does not take reservations unless you have a party of 10 or more. If you visit on a weekend, we recommend stopping in before you are ready to eat to put your name on the list and sign up to receive a text when your table is ready.

You can use the vouchers and the gift card at any time during your stay!

The Tavern Hotel maintains a smoke and tobacco-free building. No smoking or other use of tobacco products (including, but not limited to, pipes, cigars, snuff, or chewing tobacco) is permitted in any part of the hotel.

Service of alcoholic beverages is subject to state and local laws. Must be of legal drinking age. The Tavern Hotel upon arrival items are subject to availability.

No pets allowed.
