Old Town Cottonwood

"Heart of the Verde Valley Wine Country"

Back in bootlegging days Cottonwood was known to have the best booze within hundreds of miles, attracting citizens from Los Angeles, Phoenix, as well as closer-to-home folks. Brick lined bootlegger tunnels and catacombs were interwoven below Main Street like the one that opens into the cellar of Nic’s Italian Crab & Steak House.  Today you can walk into Pizzeria Bocce, Crema Craft Kitchen & Bar, Nic’s, the Tavern Grille, or one of the wine and spirits tasting rooms that line Main Streets and have a civilized drink with friends. No need to drive back home after a day of fun as The Tavern Hotel in provides a touch of luxury for overnight guests in Old Town Cottonwood.

Antique hunters have discovered the treasures that are tucked away in the eclectic stores on Main Street. You can find vintage clothing, gems, jewelry, glassware, home décor, and unique collectibles. There’s even a store with a sole focus on amazing clocks and timepieces. Art lovers can enjoy perusing the six galleries in Old Town with an eclectic array of artwork. Otherwise, The Old Town Center for the Arts on 5thand Main is the best theater for live music and entertainment in the Verde Valley. Local artists and the galleries show their wares at the Second Saturday Art Walk each month. Discover more about Old Town Cottonwood by Tapping Here.

Park your car, stroll at your own pace and enjoy the down home friendliness and sometimes quirky characters who call Cottonwood home. The beautiful Verde River runs through Cottonwood just a stone’s throw from Main Street. The Jail Trail begins in the old Rock Jail parking area in Old Town across the street from Pizzeria Bocce. It’s an easy walk along the Verde River to Dead Horse Ranch State Park or loop back into Old Town Cottonwood.
